I am so excited to go on vacation. I've worked hard enough where I feel like I actually deserve it. And I'll be damned if this snow or firecracker bombing motherfuckers interfere with my week of 80 degree weather and authentic Mexican food.
Isn't my new luggage tag fucking sweet?
blablabla cheesy holiday stuff.
See ya'll in 2010. |

ayyoooo!
sorry i've been a wee bit MIA lately. i've been working non stop so in my down time, i'd rather sleep or catch up with the bffs than spend time on the interwebz. today, i worked a 10 hour shift! iy yi yi!
but i'll be back soon! maybe even post all the graduation pictures tomorrow. graduation was amazing & my party at whiskey kitchen was so much fun. so many amazing people in one room. old & new friends. everyone meshed well & i think i did well as hostess! it feels amazing to be done with college.
i'm waiting to hear back from an interview that i had late last week. so, keep those fingers crossed for me!
lots to update about...all in time. merry christmas, friends. :) |

| Two Questions: |
[Dec. 21st, 2009|10:59 pm] |
1. Who wants to go to Ghana with me for three or four weeks with a secular organization to help with community development and/or teach conversational English? This time next year, perhaps?
(KT A., I'm looking your way. Nicole V., I'm also looking your way as I remember you commenting in one of KT's posts saying you were looking for a legit secular program like this.)
Holla at your girl.
2. Does anyone have suggestions for raising money? It costs about $3,000, probably 4k with airfare. I've already asked for my family to give donations instead of holiday gifts and I'm making a little extra money with ghostwriting stuff, but I'd appreciate ideas if anyone has any. I'm going to start by selling stuff on eBay and hopefully I'll come up with a better fundraiser idea eventually. I just don't want to ask friends to donate since I feel like their generosity would go furthest if given to a direct organization rather than funding my airfare, if that makes any sense.
Thx and <3 |

( see what else i'm loving this week...! )
what are you loving this week?
i also love the fact that i am graduating college tomorrow. tomorrow night, my family & my two best girlfriends are going to flemming's for dinner & then my parents have set up a party for me at Whiskey Kitchen at 10pm. so, come out, celebrate, & buy me a drink! |

Today was my first day at 826. FINALLY. I've been meaning to do this for years, and I just now figured out a way to work that shit into my schedule.
A bunch of my friends work with kids and have hilarious/cute stories. I'm excited that now I can rack up a few as well. I loved hanging out with the kids and helping them read and do their math homework and I stayed until the center closed. Kids are such badasses. I just never want to spawn any of my own.
Um what else. I'm hoping for a Hanukkah miracle that involves a Marantz PMD660, a nice shotgun mic, and recording software. Ideally I want ProTools but if I had that I'd want to dedicate an entire computer to it and I don't have a spare Mac. I do have a spare Dell, so I might bring that piece of shit back from the dead and use it only for audio.
Big ideas big ideas big ideas. I'm excited to relax and read and enjoy sunny Mexico for a week, then I'm headed back into super-productivity lifehacker mode for 2010. Get into it. |

I was on a steady reading streak this summer but it died down once I got a job with 16-18 hour workdays. I'm glad to report that I'm now finally hopping back on the reading rainbow.
Current reading list:
-Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
-How to be Alone by Jonathan Franzen (read it a while ago but I'm re-reading it)
-Hos, Hookers, Call Girls, and Rent Boys edited by David Henry Sterry (just when I thought I've read every essay compilation book from sex workers, I found this one with all its pretty cover art and whatnot on the shelf at Good Vibes. And it has an essay from my hero Annie Sprinkle!)
-The Plague by Albert Camus
-Best Women's Erotica 2008 edited by Violet Blue
Today I received a book in the mail as a gift from some anonymous person, or at least a person who has not yet identified him/herself. It's "On Writing" by Stephen King. I've never read anything of his before so I'm excited to start it.
That's all. |
